Shoot Shoot Bang Bang

Your silence has spoken volumes.
Your inaction has pushed me near the edge.
Your absence has left a crease on the pillow from the night before,
the night that you never came at all.

There is no need for you to pull the trigger. I know how it helps you that the cold steel is resting on my temple, instead of yours. You are merely shifting the blame, irregardless of what you have and have not done. There could be a thousand and one reasons; pride, fear, self-righteousness, ignorance, confusion. But, in the end of the day, none of it really matters.

There is no need for blood, sweat and tears to be spilled. I have already been hanging from this noose, far longer than you know. From far before you would even realise that maybe you do care, and maybe you should do something about it. From far before you would even flinch the slightest bit, to break this silence. To pull me away from this ledge.

You should've come over, because it's not too late.

(But then again, even if you do give a flying fuck, when will it be too late?)

Two Minutes and Much, Much More

You can see it in their eyes. Their hopes, fears, insecurities, and the abundance of masks they try to hide themselves in. Their past, present, future. Some people carry it in their eyes their lies and truths. You can sense where they've been before, their pain and anguish, and the changes that transpired later that made them the people they are today. That fiery passion, that blind determination, that peace of mind, that sincerity.

I saw that in her. She's a person twice my age with an energy of someone twice as young. She carried something in her eyes. I remember seeing her past, present, future. Her past was painful, difficult, it was full of emptiness and turmoil. Her present is a monumental sigh of relief, happiness and a peace of mind. Her future is full of unbreakable hopes.

But what really struck me was her sincerity. She carried such an honest, innocent heart. So much warmth, so much compassion. But at the same time with the maturity and realist of an experienced woman who have gone through enough in her lifetime to know how to keep her feet planted firmly on the ground without letting her ideals turn to aloof wonders and float about with careless childish abandon.

She turned to my mom and said, "You have a powerful son".

And one of the last things she said to me was, "I can see it in you. I believe. You can move the world".

Thank you. For your honesty. For your encouragement. For your hopes. For sharing your life with me for those brief two minutes. But believe me, you gave me so much more.

Is This Goodbye?

I've realized now, the long hard painful way, that she's the Sawyer in my imaginary TV series. That sometimes you have to do the wrong thing before you know what's the right thing to do. I've made so many mistakes in the past, so many things that I've regretted. It's only a matter of time that karma will come around, grab me, pull me down, beat every ounce of my sinful fibers, and force me to learn the hard, hard way. But it has always been that way, hasn't it?

I do believe that things happen for a reason, that there is no such thing as a coincidence. I believe that behind every storm, every disaster, every mistake, there's a silver lining. Life has a way of teaching you lessons. And it's funny how life will teach you those lessons again and again, until you'll get it right. When I think about it, sometimes, where is the silver lining behind the "right" lessons? Where is the silver lining behind the "wrong" lessons learnt? Is there really an absolute right or wrong?

It is stated that whatever happens, for better or worse, there's a hikmah hidden in between the lines. I'm not a big believer in fatalism, but sometimes certain events that have transpired in the past had made me think otherwise. Some people cruise through life in a fairly comfortable and secure way. While others, some, go through life in random zig zag, unpredictable, and in a fashionably catastrophic manner.

I really do wonder. Can some mistakes ever be undone? Can it ever be reversed? Can we ever start over, amend things, make things better? Can we ever put a band-aid over it and move on? Or maybe, some people are just fated to go through life the hard way. For reasons perhaps we will never truly understand. Sometimes I do see a bright future ahead of me, doing the things I love, the things I've always dreamt of doing, having my family close with me, and all the people I love around me.

But sometimes, just sometimes, I envision my future to be the complete opposite of that. That perhaps I'm doomed for an eternity of difficulties, pain and merciless sorrow. Not to sound like Dostoevsky extracting paragraphs from Notes from the Underground, but, it really is not as bleak as it sounds. This is not self-pity, nor it is a complete surrender to pessimism.

This is reality. No matter how hard we try, we don't always get what we want. I'm bracing myself for more "karmic" moments that sooner or later I'll have to pay for. I've climbed out of my fair share of rock bottoms. But I've a feeling there's one more, just one more, that will be the toughest that I'll ever have to go through.

Til then, I'll just take one day at a time.
Just one day at a time.
One day at a time.

Dearest Beloved

I love you in ways you will never know. In ways that even I am unsure of. In ways that I cannot comprehend. I loved you before, I love you now, and I will love you for a thousand tomorrows that have yet to come. This uncertainty, this pain, has been carved in the vacant walls of my heart for far too long. I lie to myself with hopes to forget, even for a fleeting moment, these futile thoughts. How can it be possible? How can it ever be possible? It may never be. You and I may never be.

But I love you anyway, irrefutably, irrevocably, unequivocally.

I yearn your presence.
I crave your laughter.
I dream of you.

You make me feel alive again.

Tiptoe

I've traveled far and wide.

To beautiful landscapes and foreign cities. Through dreary back alleys and abandoned spaces. Skipping train tracks and lying on asphalt grounds. Swimming in droning moonsongs and existential thoughts. Drowning in the pages of fictional bedtime stories. Into and out of the lives of friends and lovers. To far reaching dreams that beacons my pathway and the mistakes that darkens it. To bittersweet memories that cuts my heart at every replay. To tumultuous journeys of laughter, blood, sweat and tears. To places so dark you lose yourself.

I've traveled too far.

There is nowhere else I'd rather be than now. At the most trying of times, this is where I begin to search for the person I lost a lifetime ago. The battles were never this difficult, the pain never this real. The fear of an impossible future. A dim hope. Nevertheless, a shred of hope. Maybe there will be better things to come. Maybe one day I'll find something meaningful. Maybe I still have a chance.

And maybe, there's still time.
